Sacyr Ingeniería e Infraestructuras, working as part of a consortium with the Brazilian building firm Ferrera Guede, is building phase 1 of the Eastern Metro Line in Fortaleza. This is one of the most popular cities in Brazil with tourists, carrying around 150,000 passengers a day.
The work includes laying the track from the Tirol-Moura Brasil station to the rail yard, located after Papicú station.
The project encompasses 7.3 km of tunnels, 6 km of which will be excavated using tunneling machinery. It also includes five underground stations (Tirol, Central Chico da Silva, Colegio Militar, Nunes Valente and Papicú) and one overground station (Tirol-Moura Brasil).
