With his signature smile on, Souleymane Thaindoume, better known as Suly, arrived in Spain from Dakar, Senegal, in 2007. He established himself in Soria, where he started working at the gardening service managed by Valoriza Mediambiente.
After a brief pause, five years ago, Fernando Baena, service supervisor of Valoriza for the northern region, hired him back and put him in charge of the recycling drop-off point.
Suly tells us that, while it was "a little bit difficult" at the start, now he is happy. He pretty much knows everyone in Soria, a city with 40,000 inhabitants, and he welcomes close to 100 cars to the Valoriza facilities every day. Who does not need to go to the drop-off point every once in a while? Whether it be to get rid of that TV that does not work anymore, or that piece of furniture that went out of fashion five years ago, or the old cassette collection, now that everything works via Bluetooth.
Suly brandishes his signature smile on for everyone.
